In celebration of National Bird Day... Sandhill cranes are one of my favorite birds and they can be found at Windsor Hills
This group was right outside Manesty with a Super View in September of 2023.
I love their special vocalizations which sound like a coo plus a purr plus a flutter and a clacking all mixed in. They are large birds and I was surprised by this the first time I saw them. Do not feed them as this is illegal in Florida. We observed that our neighbors didn't know this and fed them in the morning. Then everyday the birds would visit and demand to be fed (with their loud vocalizations). We have these same birds in Michigan and I enjoy hearing them in the corn fields after harvest.
